eenusa > The pew dedicated to POWs and MIAs is designated with flowers and stands empty at all times. Hanging from the ceiling at the rear of the chapel is a votive ship - it is a model of a fifteenth century Flemish carrack and serves as a reminder that God protects those in peril from the sea.

(Farragut was the first senior officer of the US Navy during the American Civil War. He was the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and full admiral of the Navy. He is remembered in popular culture for his order at the Battle of Mobile Bay: "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!)
