Favorites - Quest for Antarctica : This is a collection of "some" of my favorite photos from our "Quest for Antarctica" voyage with Quark. Our voyage started in Ushuaia, Argentina and included visits to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia island, and the region around the Antarctic Peninsula. Pre-Voyage in Ushuaia : December 27-30, 2006: Travel from Washington, DC and pre-voyage days in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Voyage Day 1 Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego & Sailaway : December 31, 2006: We join our Quark group for the first day of our voyage, which starts with a tour of Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego.

Voyage Days 2 - 4 Falkland Islands : January 1-3, 2007: We sail to the Falklands and make landings on New Island, Carcass Island, and in Stanley (including Gypsy Cove).

Voyage Days 5 - 6 Enroute to South Georgia : January 4-5, 2007: Sailing from the Falklands to South Georgia Island. The only land we sight en route is Shag Rocks.

Voyage Day 7 South Georgia : January 6, 2007: First day at South Georgia. Landing at King Haakon Bay; zodiac cruise at Cape Rosa; ship's cruise of Bird Island; zodiac cruise at Elsehul.

Voyage Day 8 South Georgia : January 7, 2007: Day two on South Georgia Island. Landing at Salisbury Plain; landing on Prion Island; landing at Fortuna Bay; zodiac cruises of Leith Harbour and Stromness whaling stations.

Voyage Day 9 South Georgia : January 8, 2007: Day three of our visit to South Georgia Island. Aborted landings at St Andrews Bay and Royal Bay; ship's cruise to Nordenskjöld Glacier; landing and Antarctic barbecue at Grytviken.

Voyage Days 10-11 Farewell South Georgia & Heading South : January 9-10, 2007: Last day in South Georgia and day at sea, heading south towards the Antarctic continent. Landing at Gold Harbour; zodiac cruise at Cooper Bay; ship's cruise of Drygalski Fjord; icebergs and seabirds.

Voyage Day 12 South Orkneys : January 11, 2007: South Orkney Islands. Ship's cruise through Washington Strait; landing at Shingle Cove on Coronation Island.

Ship's cruise through Gerlache Strait to Errera Channel; zodiac cruise at Petzval Glacier and continental landing at Almirante Brown Station in Paradise Bay; ship's cruise through Lemaire Channel; landing at Petermann Island; zodiac cruise in Pleneau Bay.

Post-Voyage in Buenos Aires : January 18-19, 2007: A day and a half in Buenos Aires. We did a "getting-to-know-you" car tour on the afternoon of the 18th, which was primarily focused on Barrio La Boca, and an walked around on our own on the 19th before boarding our late night flight back to the U.S.
